As the appointed civil and structural engineering consultant for Drayton Manor Resort’s Vikings area, we were instrumental in bringing this dynamic new space to life. Our team worked closely with the resort and other key stakeholders to deliver engineering solutions for the installation of three state-of-the-art rides—Thor, the Disk'o Coaster, the Loki ride, and additional attractions—creating an exciting new zone for visitors to enjoy.

Our scope of work included the detailed design of the piled foundations required to support the heavy loads and dynamic forces of these cutting-edge rides. The Disk'o Coaster, in particular, demanded a robust foundation system to ensure stability and safety during operation, while the Loki ride required tailored engineering to suit its unique mechanical structure. Our expertise ensured that each foundation was precisely engineered for long-term durability and reliability, considering the unique ground conditions of the site.

In addition to the ride foundations, we also designed the timber-framed buildings that form a key part of the Vikings area. These structures, which house operational facilities, guest services, and retail spaces, were designed with both aesthetics and functionality in mind, reflecting the Viking theme while adhering to strict building regulations. Our team developed efficient structural systems that provided strength and durability, while complementing the resort's creative vision.

We were also responsible for the design of the queue lines, walkways, and the entrance to the Vikings area. These elements are vital to the overall guest experience, guiding foot traffic and enhancing safety while integrating seamlessly into the overall design of the area. Our civil engineering solutions ensured that these pathways were durable, accessible, and able to handle high volumes of visitors with ease.
